Department of Psychiatry, B.J.Medical College & Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad and Manas Trust – had organised Mental Health Training Program among psychologists, councellors & social workers etc. at B.J.Medical College, Ahmedabad. I had contributed in it by presenting ANXIETY DISORDERS lecture

There are some incidents happened in 2015 in villages of Ahmedabad & gandhinagar district for which no explanation could be found. Incidents were : some 10-15 persons gang with oil over whole body attack layman people during night time while they are sleeping outside. This gang don’t do robbery, instead beat them only. Due to terror of it, village people remain awaken during whole night in home. No any criminals were arrested or took responsibility for this., but people got horrified much. People had been started beating person who walked alone/ looked suspicious. During this, multiple innocent persons were beaten badly. Although no real , clear cut video / evidences were found of this attacks.TV 9 news channel invited me & one senior police officer for a talk show regarding this. It got cleared that people got terrified due to spread of rumours. We had given psychoeducation regarding rumours, appeal not to spread rumours, nor beat innocent persons. Within few weeks, these incidents were decreasing somehow & again peace was established in general population. Whatever the reasons behind this, we felt that we had contributed some part in ameliorating rumours.
